FAQs Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work?

The game begins by reading a synopsis of the murder. Next, each character will introduce themselves. The game is then played over five rounds in which characters will make accusations and answer accusations. Clues will be shared during those five rounds. Each character will have their own booklet that will tell them exactly what to say. After the five rounds are over, each player will make their best guess as to who the murderer is.

Once you purchase the game, more detailed instructions will be provided.

Can I play with any number of players?

Our games are designed for either 6-8 or 8-10 players. The games won’t work without the required minimum players. Each game has two extra characters for a total of 8 or 10 possible players (you may invite more people to your event as observers who can make a guess as to who the murderer is). We highly encourage you to have extra players at your event. If there are last-minute cancellations, those extra players can be reassigned to fill in as one of the eight main suspects. You may learn more about the required number of players on our "Games" page.

Are players supposed to dress up?

Dressing up makes the event more fun! Each game has a unique theme, and having players come dressed accordingly adds to the experience.

Should I serve food?

This is optional. Food helps people relax. We recommend having either dinner or snacks at your event.

What level of difficulty are your games

The level of difficulty may be adjusted. Each game comes with 2-3 optional hints. These hints help beginner and experienced players piece together the clues. The games are also challenging enough for expert players if you choose not to use the hints.

Can the games be played more than once?

The solution doesn’t change, but some players have enjoyed the games so much that they’ve replayed them just for fun.

Will there be more themes?

Yes. Please check back periodically.

How do I assign characters?

You will find a page with character descriptions once you purchase the game. You may choose to assign characters to players who share similar personality traits. Or you may want to match up players to characters who are quite different. Another option is to have players choose their own characters by drawing numbers to determine who chooses first.

What is the age range for the games?

The games are appropriate for teens through adults.

Can the host play?

The host should definitely play! Just be careful when printing out the game. The solution is at the end (the last page is blank). After you print out the game, take those last pages, fold them, and place them in a sealed envelope. If you are still concerned you might accidentally look at the solution, have a trusted family member or co-worker who is not playing the game do this for you.

Will printing these games use a lot of ink?

Different printers use different amounts of ink. Each game is between 60 and 75 pages. Each game has been tested by multiple groups of people, and I don't find myself replacing ink cartridges often. If the cost of ink is a concern, considering having it printed at a local copy center or contact us to have the game printed for an additional charge. Keep in mind that these games are at the lower end of the price range to comparable murder mystery games.

Do you accept returns?

We only accept returns if there is an error with the downloadable version or damage with the printed and mailed version. If you are unhappy with your purchase for any reason, please contact us and we will find a way to make it right!
